Pokédex binder and Living Dex tracker

Keep track of your Pokédex binder as you fill it. Mark the cards you own and Gumdex shows which Pokémon you still need. If you own several cards of a Pokémon, choose your favorite for its slot.

Use Pokémon cards from any set or year, in English, Japanese or Chinese.

This preview has six Pokémon with four prints each and saves nothing. Your own Dex covers every Pokémon and every print.

What is a Pokédex binder?

It is a binder with one card for each Pokémon, kept in Pokédex order from Bulbasaur onward. Collectors also call it a Living Dex, a name borrowed from the games, which means owning one of every Pokémon at the same time. The National Pokédex has 1,025 Pokémon.

You decide what goes in it. Some collectors fill every slot as cheaply as they can. Others hold out for full-art cards, or collect only Japanese prints.

Every Pokémon in one grid

Your Dex is a grid of all 1,025 Pokémon in Pokédex order, split by generation, with a progress bar for each one. A filled slot shows the card you chose. An empty slot shows the Pokémon, so you can see who is missing at a glance.

If a Pokémon has no card in the languages or sets you’re collecting, Gumdex marks that too.

Pick the card that represents each Pokémon

The first card you mark owned fills that Pokémon’s slot. Once you own a few, open the Pokémon and choose the one you want on display. If you later remove that card, the card you have owned longest takes its place.

A Pokémon’s page lists every card by release date, across all four languages. See Japanese cards for how languages fit together.

See what you still need

The Needed list shows only the Pokémon you are missing. Sort it by Pokédex number, or put the Pokémon with the fewest cards first, since those are often the hardest to find. Filter by generation when you are working through one at a time.

Which binder to use

We recommend the Vault X 16-Pocket Exo-Tec Zip Binder XXL. It has 34 double-sided pages of 16 side-loading pockets, room for 1,088 cards, so all 1,025 Pokémon fit in one binder, and a zip keeps it closed.

Every Pokémon gets its own pocket in Pokédex order, so one you are missing is simply an empty pocket until you find its card. You can even start each generation at the top of a new side: a generation’s last side is left partially full, and the 9 generations still fit, using exactly the binder’s 68 sides. Generation 1 fills 10 sides.

More than one binder

Each list is its own collection with its own cards. Keep your main Dex in one list and a Japanese-only Dex in another, or start a list for a friend’s collection.

Ultra gives you up to 10 lists instead of 1, and lets you narrow a list to some languages, a range of the Pokédex such as one generation, or a hand-picked group of sets. How to earn it

Questions

How many cards are in a complete Pokédex binder?

One for each Pokémon: 1,025 cards for the National Pokédex. Gumdex shows which Pokémon you still need, one generation at a time.

What size binder holds a complete Living Dex?

One with at least 1,025 pockets. The Vault X 16-Pocket Exo-Tec Zip Binder XXL we recommend has 34 double-sided pages of 16 pockets, room for 1,088 cards, so every Pokémon fits in one binder.

Can I mix cards from different sets and languages?

Yes. A Pokémon card from any set or year, in English, Japanese or Chinese, can fill a slot. If you own several cards of a Pokémon, choose the one that represents it.

Can I keep more than one Living Dex?

Yes. Each list is its own collection with its own cards. Great has 1 list and Ultra up to 10, and an Ultra list can be narrowed to some languages, one generation or a hand-picked group of sets.
