Terms of use

Effective October 3, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of Gumdex, an independent fan project (“we”, “us”), for using the Gumdex website and any related services (“Gumdex” or “the service”). By creating an account or using Gumdex, you accept these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

The acceptable use policy and, for card photos you send, the contributor terms are part of these terms. The privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

The service

Gumdex helps you track your Pokémon Trading Card Game collection. It is in beta, so features may change, move between levels or be removed, and the service may sometimes be unavailable.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • Give us an email address you control. Gumdex emails sign-in codes there, so keep that email account secure.
  • You are responsible for activity in your account, including by anyone you let use it. Tell us promptly through the contact form if you think someone has accessed it without permission.
  • One person per account. Do not sell, transfer or share access to your account.

Your content

Your lists, list names, display name, card notes and wishlist (“your content”) remain yours.

So that we can run Gumdex, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, copy, process and display your content, and to let our service providers do the same on our behalf. We use this permission only to provide the service to you and to the people you choose to share with, in line with your sharing settings and the privacy policy. It ends when you delete the content or close your account, apart from copies that remain for a limited time in backups.

You are responsible for your content. Only add content you have the right to add, and follow the acceptable use policy.

Card photos you send to be shown on Gumdex are covered by the contributor terms instead: they are public once approved, and the licence you give for them is set out there.

Sharing

Anyone with a secret link can view the shared list, and links can be forwarded. An email invite gives access to someone who signs in with that email address. Both give a read-only view, and neither shows your card notes, condition, quantities, prices paid or wishlist notes.

Signed-in viewers can save a shared list to their account. Turning off or replacing the link does not remove their saved access. To end someone’s access, turn off any secret link they have and remove them under People on the list’s Share page.

Acceptable use

Use Gumdex lawfully and respectfully. Do not access other people’s accounts or private lists, get around the site’s security or sharing controls, scrape or bulk-copy the catalogue or other people’s data, overload the service, send spam, or add unlawful or abusive content. The acceptable use policy gives the full list.

Levels

Gumdex is currently free to use. We may introduce paid features or plans in the future. If we do, we will announce them before they take effect, and you will not be charged unless you choose to pay. Some features are part of the Ultra level, which you earn by contributing card photos (see the contributor terms) or which we may grant. If a grant ends, nothing is deleted: lists beyond what your level includes become read-only until you have Ultra again. We may change what each level includes, and will say so on the Levels page.

Our intellectual property

The Gumdex name, logo, design and software, and the way the catalogue is organised and presented, belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable permission to use the service for your own non-commercial collecting. That permission is a licence, not a transfer of ownership, and it ends automatically if you break these terms.

Without our written permission, you may not:

  • copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the site or its software, except where the law allows it;
  • copy, mirror, republish or sell the catalogue or other material from the site;
  • remove copyright or other notices; or
  • use the Gumdex name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse or are connected with you or your product.

You may mention Gumdex, link to it and use its name or logo to refer to the service, as long as you name Gumdex as the source, do not alter the logo, do not use it commercially, and do not misrepresent us.

Trademarks and card images

Gumdex is an unofficial fan project. It is not produced, affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Nintendo, Creatures, GAME FREAK, The Pokémon Company or Wizards of the Coast. Pokémon, the names of Pokémon, the Pokémon Trading Card Game and the card artwork and text shown on the site are the property of their respective owners. They appear only to identify the cards in your collection, and any use of them must follow their owners’ terms.

Accuracy of the catalogue

The card catalogue is for general information and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Check details such as a card’s set, number and variant against the card itself. Gumdex does not value cards or verify authenticity or condition.

Suspension and closure

You can close your account at any time from the Account page. The privacy policy explains what is deleted and what may remain.

We may suspend or close your account, or limit your access, if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if your use puts the service or other people at risk. Where it is practical and lawful, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to export your owned-card records.

If we stop offering Gumdex, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your records first. Sections that by their nature should continue after closure (such as intellectual property, limits on liability and governing law) will continue.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. Keep your own copy of anything important: export your records from time to time.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we and our suppliers are not liable for any consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, even if we were told that such loss was possible. “Consequential loss” includes indirect or incidental loss, loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, opportunity or savings, loss of use, and loss or corruption of data, however it arises (including under contract, tort or negligence).

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars (or the equivalent in your currency).

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer that cannot be waived. Some places do not allow these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.

Responsibility for misuse

If you break these terms or the law while using Gumdex, and a third party makes a claim against us as a result, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the effective date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will also let you know on the site or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not agree, you can close your account.

General

  • Whole agreement: these terms, together with the policies they link to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service.
  • Severability: if part of these terms cannot be enforced, that part is removed or limited as little as possible, and the rest stays in effect.
  • No waiver: if we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • Transfer: you may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours, for example as part of a sale or reorganisation, if your rights are not reduced.
  • Governing law: these terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, and any dispute will be heard in the state and federal courts located in Massachusetts. If you are a consumer, you also keep any protection given by the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may be able to bring claims in your local courts.
